What began as a regional specialty retailer for catering and hotel supplies is now a well-established full-service provider for professional kitchens, hotels, restaurants, and institutional food service throughout Switzerland. Three generations, one conviction: close ties to the food service industry, a wide product range, and personalized advice.

The hulu cutlery holder – an invention for the world

In 1967, Bruno Hunkeler developed the hulu cutlery container. This in-house design set international standards and made the Hunkeler name known far beyond Switzerland. In 1972 and 1980, the company supplied cutlery to the Olympic Games.

Innovation as a Constant

The first specialized catalog for the restaurant and hotel industry was published in 1984. In 1998, Bruno Hunkeler took over the company and consistently drove the development of new in-house products. The first online store followed in 2012—a milestone in providing our customers with digital ordering options.

Growth Through Strong Partnerships

Strategic acquisitions such as those of Buchecker AG (2008) and Sternegg AG (2012) have specifically strengthened our product range and market presence. With exclusive brands such as Figgjo and Steelite, we now offer products that are highly regarded in the professional foodservice industry worldwide.
